Latest version.
  • 3.201 Requirements: The widths, lengths, and shapes of blocks shall be determined with due regard to:

    1.

Provision of adequate building sites suitable to the special needs of the type of use contemplated.

    2.

Zoning requirements as to lot sizes and dimensions.

    3.

Needs for convenient access, circulation, control and safety of street traffic.

    4.

    Limitations and opportunities of topography.

3.202 Length: Blocks shall not be less than 300 feet nor more than 1,500 feet in length, except as the Ville Platte Planning Commission considers necessary to secure efficient use of land or desirable features of street pattern. In blocks over 1,000 feet in length, the Ville Platte Planning Commission may require one or more public cross walks of not less than ten feet in width to provide circulation or access to schools, playgrounds, shopping centers or other community facilities.

3.203 Widths: Blocks shall be wide enough to allow two rows of lots conforming to that zoning district except where fronting on streets is prevented by topographical conditions or size of property; in which case, the Ville Platte Planning Commission may approve a single row of lots of minimum depth.
