§ 15-11. All drivers must secure license.

  • (a)

    Every person who operates a motor vehicle which is designated as being an either class "A," "B," "C," or "D" under Louisiana R.S. 32:408 before driving any such motor vehicle on any public street within the City of Ville Platte shall secure from the appropriate department an appropriately classified driver's license.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to drive a motor vehicle on any public street within the city limits of the City of Ville Platte unless he has been issued a license by the appropriate department in accordance with the provisions of Louisiana R.S. 32:401 et seq.

    (c)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to:

    (1)

    Display or cause or permit to be displayed or have in his possession any cancelled, revoked, suspended, fictitious or fraudulently altered operator's or chauffeur's license.

    (2)

    Lend his operator's or chauffeur's license to any other person or knowingly permit the use thereof by another.

    (3)

    Display or represent as one's own any operator's or chauffeur's license not issued to him.

    (4)

    Fail or refuse to surrender to the department of motor vehicles upon its lawful demand any operator's or chauffeur's license which has been suspended, revoked or cancelled.

    (5)

    Operate a vehicle while license is suspended.

    (6)

    Operate a motor vehicle upon any public street in the city limits of the City of Ville Platte during the period of suspension, revocation or cancellation of any license which may have been issued to him by this state or any other state.

    (d)

    Whoever violates the provisions of this section may be fined up to $200.00.
